Sudan hosts international conference on human trafficking and illegal immigration
|
Khartoum-The international conference on fighting human trafficking and illegal immigration started sessions in Khartoum on Monday amid participation of African and European countries.
The conference will be attended by Ethiopia, Eritrea, Djibouti, Egypt, Libya, Tunis and Italy, Spain, France besides the International Migration organization and the United Nations Higher Commission for refugees.
Sudan is considers as one of the human trafficking and illegal immigration transit countries.
The human trafficking gangs are active on the borders between Sudan and Eritrea, where the Eritrean asylum seekers cross the borders to Sudan. Last February, Human Rights watch accused Sudanese security officers of involvement in human trafficking operations. In the meantime, the Sudanese authorities said it wants the world to help them fight the phenomenon.
