Experts consider appearance of Kenyan present before ICC as legal precedent
|
Khartoum-Legal experts and monitors have described the appearance of the Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta before the international criminal court (ICC) on Wednesday as strong slam against the African Union decision that rejects dealing with the ICC under the pretext that it targets African leaders alone. Ahmed Hussein Adam, the researcher at the Development Institute of Cornell University, told Afiat Darfur Radio that the voluntary appearance of the Kenyan President while in power poses a precedent in the international relations and new development in the international criminal law and international justice. He said that the move would support the credibility of the ICC, calling on the African Union to reconsider its stance toward the ICC.
