European Union Ambassador call on Sudan to thrust with an inclusive National Dialogue

Khartoum-H.E. Prof. Ibrahim Ghandour, assistant to the President received at his office in the Republican Palace H.E. Ambassador Tomas Ulicny, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Sudan. After the meeting, the European Union Ambassador informed the journalists that he conveyed to Prof. Ibrahim Ghandour the European Union's commitment to continue favoring peaceful solutions in Sudan. The European Union diplomat called on the Sudanese government to continue to support the endeavor and the mediation of the African Union High Implementation Panel (AUHIP) led by President Thabo Mbeki. Ambassador Tomas Ulicny confirmed that the international assurance in the national dialogue will be achieved if the 7 +7 Committee meetings kick off, all Sudanese parties inside and outside Sudan are included into the dialogue and all the political prisoners are released and basic freedoms are guaranteed. The European Union Ambassador added that Sudan is at a crossroad and should benefit from the opportunity to engage in reforms and democratization. Ambassador Tomas Ulicny pledged that the European Union will continue to help the Sudanese to help themselves and is not interested in imposing or interfering in the internal issues of Sudan confirming the European Union supports to the AUHIP mediation. In parallel, European Union Ambassador defended the EU policies on Sudan and warned against extreme and hardline lobbies who continue to harm the progress of relations between Sudan and Europe
