press release on upcoming IGAD Summit on South Sudan
|
and#65532;Office of the Spokesperson Date: August 14, 2014 PRESS RELEASE (05) (For Immediate Release) SPLM/SPLA Should Participate in IGAD Summit on South Sudan The leadership of SPLM/SPLA reiterates the need to participate in IGAD Summits which discuss the situation in South Sudan. It is unfortunate that IGAD passes resolutions in favour of one party because SPLM/SPLA is not provided with an opportunity to tell our side of the story. IGAD cannot commit SPLM/SPLA to their resolutions where the Movement has no presence. We therefore want to be participant in the upcoming Summit. As I write this press release SPLM/SPLA leadership has not received any official communication from IGAD about the expected Summit on Sunday despite the fact that a request was earlier made to the regional body to consider our participation. We therefore call on IGAD mediation to ensure participation of our party in the Summit in order to have an informed decision on the situation in South Sudan. Regards, James Gatdet Dak Spokesperson Office of the Chairman SPLM/SPLA
