Mohamdiya-Sudanese greatest Violinist dies on Wednesday
|
Khartoum-The legend of “violin” in Sudan, Mohamed Abdalla Abakar, passed away on Wednesday after long illness. The greatest violinist, who is nicknamed as “Mohamdiya” was buried in Hamad al-Nil cemetery in Omdurman. The late Mohamdiya was born in Daim Jabir neighborhood in Port-Sudan, the capital of Red Sea state in 1941. He became a professional violinist at age of 17. At the start of his career, he worked with the well-known vocalists in Port-Sudan including Saleh Al-Dai.
He completed his study at the Institute of Oriental music in Cairo Egypt in 1975.
He worked for the Sudanese Radio for almost half a century as a musician and leader of the musical orchestra.
He accompanied senior Sudanese singers in their internal and external trips. His musical pieces won admiration of millions.
