Parliament affirms reduction of sugar production
|
Khartoum-The Energy and Mining Panel at the National Assembly has affirmed reduction of sugar production in 2012-2013 for several reasons including the reduction of the rain rates comparing to the previous seasons a matter that affected the growth especially during the critical stage. The report of the energy, mining and industry panel on the statement of the minister of industry on the performance of the ministry for 2013 has attributed the weakness of the production to the reduction of the harvesting areas due to the random fire and lack of the seasonal workers because of the immigration to the gold mining areas. The report has also stressed the necessity of focusing on the field and irrigation operations to achieve high productivity of sugar. The sugar production this year did not exceed 75% of the average of production in the previous years.
