|
Khartoum-Bahri criminal court listened in a session on Tuesday to 10 defense witnesses in connection with the case of Al-Khojalab protesters who were arrested upon last Septembers’ demonstration. The charges against the first, second and third defendants have been closed.
Member of the defense team lawyer Satie Al-Haj told the Citizen on Wednesday that the court will continue hearing to the rest of the defense witnesses in next Tuesday session. He said that the witness proved on Tuesday that the defendants have nothing to do with the acts of burning and #####ng, and that their stances were against burning of any institution or violating the law and turning the peaceful demonstration into not peaceful.
Al-Haj stated that the defense witnesses have affirmed before the court that the defendants have participated in a peaceful demonstration against the rise of prices and lifting of oil subsidies, and did not participate in causing any damage to any government facility as portrayed by the prosecutor.
