|
Khartoum-The UN has warned that the lives of hundreds are in danger due to the lack of food saying that it has received 36% of the total sum for providing the humanitarian assistance in Sudan. In the meantime, the UN has referred to the deterioration of the health situations in Darfur.
The UN resident coordinator for humanitarian affairs in Sudan has expressed deep concern over the remarkable rise in the humanitarian needs which have not met sufficiently by the humanitarian assistance a matter that puts thousands of the affected persons countrywide at the risk.
The UN and its partners have so far received around 36.6% of the estimated sum of 995 million dollars needed to meet the humanitarian aid in the country. In a press release on Sunday, the UN said that around 59 aerial bombs have fallen in Kawada city, the stronghold of the SPLM-north following the repetition of fighting between the SPLM-North, the Sudanese government and the pro government semi forces.
No reports on causalities among civilians but the civil facilities have been damaged.
In the same context, a report by the Famine Early Warning Systems Network said that the SPLM-North held areas in South Kordofan and Blue Nile states faces the highest (emergency) level of lack of food security in Sudan.
