A commercial convoy was looted in North Darfur on Tuesday. In South Darfur’s capital Nyala, two vehicles were stolen on Monday.
“Government-backed militiamen in eight vehicles mounted with Dushka machineguns, intercepted a commercial convoy of four lorries en route from El Fasher to Tawila on Tuesday morning,” one of the passengers told Radio Dabanga.
“They robbed all the passengers of their money, mobile phones, and luggage, and took all the goods from the lorries, and fled.”
The source complained about the repeated attacks of “those Janjaweed”, and demanded from the North Darfur authorities to “put an end to such practices and bring the perpetrators to justice”.
On Monday, the four-wheel-drive vehicle of Hamed Mukhtar was stolen in El Jeer district in Nyala. Another four-wheel-drive vehicle, belonging to the Nyala branch of the Sudanese French bank, disappeared on the same day, a listener in South Darfur’s capital reported to Radio Dabanga.
“The vehicle of the bank was taken from the employees’ rest house. Mukhtar’s vehicle was taken by men in customs police uniforms, who told him they were working for the Anti-Smuggling Task Force.”
