Transport ministry requests increasing transition fees
|
Khartoum-The Ministry of Transport, Roads and Bridges has revealed rejection of the ministry of finance to the proposals of the national roads corporation on increasing the transition fees on national roads, saying that this rejection has prevented the corporation from finding resources to rehabilitate the roads.
The ministry has revealed that the Sudanese Airline owns one plane, seven planes out of service and two chartered planes. The ministry stated that the 7 planes need a sum of 10.7 million dollars for maintenance.
The ministry complained from lack of government guarantees to obtain loans for buying modern planes to support the fleet of the Sudan air and buying new ships to support the fleet of the Sudan line.
The minister of transport said that the ministry of finance has approved the guarantee on the emergency plan for the maintenance of the defected planes.
The minister of transport Dr. Ahmed Babiker Nahar said in statement at the Parliament on Monday that his ministry has endeavors to resume the flights of gulf area soon and Jordan station during the current year.
He revealed completion of feasibility to buy new passenger ships at cost of 10 million dollars and cattle ship at cost of 5 million dollars.
