The European Union considers indiscriminate attack as war crime
|
Khartoum-The Humanitarian Aid Commission and the International Migration Organization have affirmed that around 13.500 persons have fled their homes in the past few weeks due to the fighting between the government and the SPLM-North.
In the meantime, the European Union delegation in Sudan has expressed grave concern over reports on aerial bombardment on Om-Al-Rahma (Mother of Mercy) medical facility in the Nuba mountains in South Kordofan on first and second of May.
The Delegation of the European Union to Sudan recalls that “under international humanitarian law, hospitals are protected civilian objects, and that failing to make the distinction between military objectives and the civilian population and objects represents an indiscriminate attack and is a war crime”.
The UN Office for humanitarian affairs said in a weekly bulletin on the humanitarian situations in Sudan that around 90.000 persons in the SPLM-held areas have displaced due to the fighting between the Sudanese armed forces and the SPLM-North in South Kordofan state.
