Sudanese in the diaspora living in Italy staged a protest on Thursday denouncing violations carried out by the ruling National Congress Party (NCP). Demonstrations occurred in front of the Chamber of Deputies in Rome.
The group chanted slogans calling for the fall of the NCP regime and criticising government forces and militias for carrying out aerial bombings, killings and for burning villages of civilians in Darfur.
Esam Adam El Haj, present during protests in Rome, told Radio Dabanga that among demonstrators were Sudanese and Darfuri civil society organisations, political parties and members of the Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF).
El Haj said the protests were aimed at drawing the world's attention to the atrocities being committed in Darfur and that demonstrators submitted a memo to Italian authorities.
