Ministry of Defense warns against consequences of funding on army capabilities

Khartoum-The Minister of Defense Abdelrahim Mohamed Hussein has rejected distribution of a written statement to the deputies of the Parliament on Monday due to fears over leakage of the statement that contains “sensitive security issues”.

In response to a protest by Deputy Ibrahim Bahr-Eddin that the minister has no written statement, the minister said th4 defense ministry has special nature, promising to introduce the statement for the deputies in the meetings of the committees.

The defense minister revealed seize of so big groups of immigrants in the desert from Sudan and neighboring countries. He said that the number of the persons exceed 600. He stated that these groups of immigrants were about to die when they found.

He revealed contacts with the Central African Republic to continue work of tripartite forces already in Central Africa to play its role. He added that” despite the withdrawal of the Chadian forces for while, we have agreed on presence of Central Africa Republic and Sudan forces”.

He revealed that the armed forces resort to the popular defense forcers and the national service to fill over the insufficiency in the armed forces. He admitted that the implementation of the projects of ministry of defense plan ranges between 30 to 50% due to the lack of funding, stressing the necessity of providing the local and foreign component to implement the projects for building a modern armed forces.

He urged the government to provide the equipments necessary for redeployment of the armed forces to face the security threats.

He complained from deterioration of the work environment, inability to relieve the military elements that have lost the ability to work, failure to create attractive work environment due to the weakness of salaries. He blamed the finance ministry for not fulfilling its commitment.

The minister revealed that the military industry corporation faces obstacles to provide the needs of the armed forces due to the siege on the country and lack of the foreign currency to fulfill the commitments for the bodies that provide the materials, warning against the consequences that on the capabilities of the military industry.

He announced directives by the ministry and joint chief of staff to implement the 2013 plan on relieving the insufficient elements and give attention to the military personnel against the psychological warfare.
