Sudanese Civil Movement requests presidential decision to protect freedoms
|
Khartoum-Hassien Saad-The “Sudanese civil movement for comprehensive peace” has called for issuing presidential decision protecting freedoms and addressing the issues of the war-affected areas. The movement said that the military escalation by the Sudanese government in the operation areas and the threats to solve the issue militarily have made the citizens worried and skeptical about going ahead with peace realization.
The movement has called on the components of the Sudanese people (political - civil society) to agree on the transitional period.
In a press release on Addis Ababa negotiations between the government and the SPLM-North on Wednesday, The Sudanese civil movement for comprehensive peace stressed the necessity of a comprehensive view on peace for Sudan. The statement stressed the importance of negotiation and dialogues as a means for solving the conflicts in the country
The civil society, which was formed by a number of civil society organizations and activists in areas of peace and development in February, pointed out that it is worried about the prolonging of talks, calling on parties to the dispute to engage in serious dialogue to cease hostilities, guarantee protection the citizen and handle its issues in the war affected areas and agree on declaration of principles on the comprehensive peace process.
