President Kiir: We did not pay Uganda for intervention in South Sudan

Juba-The President of South Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit has denied paying money for Uganda in return of its entry to the country, stressing the importance of making query about any money transfer to the Ugandan government. He stated that the rebel leader Reick Machar was responsible for allowing the Ugandan army into South Sudan in 2006 in accordance with an agreement to fight the Ugandan Lord Resistance Army. . According to Al-Masir newspaper, Kiir said that he notified the Ugandan President about the necessity of withdrawing his troops from Bor city, saying that the withdrawal arrangements will begin the coming period.
Kiir called on South Sudan citizens not to harass four detainees who have been released recently, urging them not to leave the country. He said that the release of the four detainees poses a way to solve the crisis and realize peace and reconciliation. He described the decision to release them as the price for bringing peace.
He said that the Sudanese President has threatened to shut down the oil pipeline saying that he told his Sudanese counterpart that this move will affect Khartoum that owns that biggest share of the oil revenues. He said we did not disagree during the recent visit t but we did not reach an agreement.
