Saudi Arabia biggest importer of Sudan’s livestock

and#65279; KHARTOUM: ARAB NEWS Saudi Arabia is the largest importer of Sudanese livestock, followed by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, local media reported quoting a Sudanese official. Exports of Sudanese livestock to GCC countries in the first quarter of this year reached 138 million ######### distributed as follows: 113 million sheep, 4,640 camels and 46,830 goad, asserted the head of the Othman Digna Port. Informed sources also revealed that a delegation from the Sudanese Central Bank is set to visit the port to address problems arising in the shipment of livestock. In a related development, livestock exporters have called on the Ministry of Finance and the Sudanese Central Bank to provide liquidity to commercial banks to be able to meet their demands. For his part, Siddiq Haidub, chief of the livestock exporters’ chamber, confirmed the ability of exporters to meet both local and international demand for meat. Haidub praised the step taken by the Kingdom to lift the ban on importing frozen meat, describing it as a favorable step that will inject more hard currency into the Sudanese economy.
