|
Juba-The South Sudan army has announced losing contacts with its commanders fighting the rebels in the oil-rich Unity state where the rebels took over the main city of Bor.
However, the spokesman of the Army has said that the situation is calm in Bor where 58 persons were killed and 100 were injured when armed gunmen attacked a UN base on Thursday.
The international Security Council has described the attack on the base, which provides shelter to thousands of the civilian refugees, as terrible, and could pose a war crime.
The army is fighting the rebels loyal to the former vice president Machar after a new rebel attack pm the main oil fields in South Sudan.
The rebels retook over Bentiu town on Tuesday. The international peacekeeping forces spoke about spread of bodies in streets.
The rebels said that the army has escaped from Bentiu , saying they seized large quantities of military equipments including guns but the army denied that and said it is making a counter offensive.
The army said from his headquarters in Juba that it lost contact with the forces that have been fighting there since Thursday.
