Sudan denies selling Nubian archeological sites to Qatar
|
Khartoum-The national corporation for archeology and museums has denied selling any archeological site or relics to state of Qatar, and described what has been recently circulated by some media outlets in this regard as unfounded. Egyptian media outlets have said that Sudan has given its Nubian archeology to Qatar for millions of dollars amid fears that the move will threaten the archeological tourism sector in Egypt.
The director general of the national corporation of archeology and museums Abdel-rahman Ali has said in a statement to Sudan news agency that there is cooperation between Sudan and Qatar to develop the Nuba archeological sites at a cost of 135 millions dollars during period of five years.
He said that the cooperation aims at excavation of archeological sites and discovery of what has been hidden for the interests of the Sudanese and world civilization.
