Egyptian chargé d'affaires: Sudan is still studying impact of renaissance dam
|
Khartoum-The Egyptian chargé d'affaires to Sudan, Wael Barakat, has said that the stance of Sudan toward establishment of the renaissance dam has not been determined yet, and that it is now conducting studies to find out the consequences of the establishment of the Ethiopian dam. He pointed out that Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia have agreed to make studies on the dam but there are differences over the international experts committee that will discuss these studies. He said that the establishment of the dam was not because of Egypt relations in Africa but because of the utilization of the circumstances of Egypt during that stage. He pointed out that many African countries are rejecting the stance of the African commission toward the suspension of Egypt membership to the African union. On the other hand, he said that the economic and commercial relations between Sudan and Egypt face a number of challenges top of which are the transfer of the local currency into foreign.
