South Sudan shows readiness to hold constitutional conference if rebels hold fire Juba-Cario-The Secretary of the Presidency in South Sudan has announced his county’s consent to hold a constitutional conference if a new truce is reached after the collapse of the last agreement with the rebels. A fierce fighting broke out lasts September when rebels led by former vice president Reik Machar took arms against the government of Salva Kiir. The warring parties reached a cease fire truce, but it collapses soon. The Secretary of the Presidency said in a press conference he held in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum that his government seeks stopping of war via peace talks in Addis Ababa under the sponsorship of the IGAD. He went on to say that we participated in this negotiation and accepted convocation of constitutional conference in South Sudan if there are a truce and cease fire. He considered as stable the security situations in South Sudan, saying that the SPLM army is capable to protect South Sudan territories. He described as not neutral the recent UN report on human rights in his country and urged the UN to listen to the view of his government.
