Information Committee at Parliament to hold workshop on new press law Khartoum-The head of the Media Committee at the Parliament, Afafa Towr, has affirmed convocation of a workshop next march to come out with a draft press law to be agreed upon by all parties. While she said they are waiting for response from parties, she affirmed receiving replies on the expected press law from the Press Council, the Sudanese Journalists Union, Sudan University and media professional Mahjoub Orwa. On its part, the Sudanese Authority for defending rights and freedoms has warned against approving a law for press and publication without the participation of the whole parties (stakeholders). Head of the committee Farouq Mohamed Ibrahim has said that the proposed law will put further restrictions on the press. He stressed the necessity of involving the whole journalists in the steps of approving any press and publications law.
