Addis Ababa talks between government delegation and SPLM on the brink of collapse
|
Addis Ababa-The SPLM has revealed the collapse of the direct talks with the Sudanese government in Addis Ababa due to what it described as the reluctant of the government delegation to deliver the humanitarian aid to the two areas through means other than the mechanisms which are controlled by the government in full contradiction with the African Union and Security Council resolutions. The SPLM further attributed the collapse to the insistence of the government delegation on partial solutions with the SPLM and its rejection comprehensive solutions.
The official spokesperson of the SPLM Mubarak Ardol has said that the 20- minute morning session concluded with full disparity of the stances of the two sides after the SPLM has insisted on humanitarian cessation of hostilities based on the international criteria, and the comprehensive solution that involves all political powers and civil society organizations via a new transitional government to be agreed upon. President Mbeki is expected to meet the two sides in a bid to rescue the talks from the total collapse.
