Egypt expresses readiness to allow South Sudan students into universities The Egyptian government has expressed readiness to admit South Sudan students affected by the recent fighting in Egyptian universities and higher education institutes at all levels and in different colleges as of the next academic year 2014-2015. The deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Hosam Issa, has said that the doors of the Egyptian universities are open for the South Sudan students. This came during a meeting with the ambassador of south Sudan to Cairo. The ambassador has meanwhile briefed the minister on the circumstances the students face after the failed coup attempt led by the former vice president Reik Machar and some of the politicians who have lost their posts in the recent ministerial reshuffle. He said that the official statistics indicate that more than 40 thousands students have no classrooms for their study after the destruction of the entire classrooms. . The minister said he will call for urgent meeting with the Secretary General of the higher council of universities to discuss the issue of enrolling students of south Sudan into the Egyptian universities.
