Egyptian former Irrigation minister: Sudan abandons Egypt for Ethiopia on Dam issue
Cario-The former Egyptian Irrigation and Water Resources Minister, Mohamed Nasr Alam, has said that Sudan has abandoned Egypt with regard to the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam due to political reasons pertinent to the Ethiopian influence on officials in South Sudan. Speaking to Sot Alnas ( Voice of people) show on Al-Mehwar TV by phone, Alam said that reluctance of Egyptian official toward the Renaissance Dam was the reason behind the escalation of the crisis during the past period. He added that Ethiopia should accept presence of international experts who can play a neutral role in evaluating the impact of the Ethiopian dam on Egypt and Sudan. He pointed out that Egypt can submit the case to the international security council if Ethiopia rejected the presence of international experts, saying that there are regional and international attempts to weaken the Egyptian role in the middle east and north Africa.
