SPLA FORCES ARE ADVANCING TO RETAKE BENTIU TOWN

SPLA FORCES ARE ADVANCING TO RETAKE BENTIU TOWN
    For Immediate Release
    January, 1st, 2014

The SPLA forces, under the command of Maj. Gen. Mathews Pul Jang, captured Mayom, Timor, Parieng and Manga in one day on Jan, 1st, 2014 and are now advancing to Bentiu town. The SPLA forces repulsed the attacks of forces loyal to renegade Maj. Gen. James Koang who violated the ceasefire negotiated by the IGAD. The forces of the prophet of doom attacked the SPLA forces on December, 31st, 2013. In self-defense, the SPLA forces responded and pursued the rebels.

The people of South Sudan should be alerted that renegade Gen. James Koang is planning to blow up the bridge that connects Bentiu town with the rest of the counties of the state. The SPLA forces are now closer to Bentiu town and Maj. Gen. James Koang is threatening to blow up the bridge to prevent SPLA tanks to cross the river. If indeed he blows up the bridge, it would amount to a war crime because the bridge is the property of the people of South Sudan. During the clashes between the South and the Sudan in 2012, the Sudan Air Force had never attempted to destroy the bridge.

The people of South Sudan must know that the forces of doom, led by the prophet of doom, are not fighting for the welfare and the future of the people of South Sudan. Their objective is to destroy the infrastructure of the country. They demonstrated that by #####ng the towns of Malakal and Bor recently.

Therefore, the people of South Sudan must condemn Maj. Gen. James Koang who wants to destroy the infrastructure of Unity State. If the claim of the forces of doom that “they represent the public interest” is true, then, they must desist from destroying public properties. What renegade Gen. James Koang is doing is a violation of international law and it is a war crime punishable by death. When he is captured by the national army he will face court-martial for destroying public properties. We seriously warn the forces of doom not to destroy public buildings and properties.
