Mbeki asks South Sudan to help Sudan in its campaign for debt relief Khartoum-South Sudan disclosed on Wednesday that it has received a proposal from the chairman of AU High-level Implementation Panel (AUHIP), Thabo Mbeki, in which he asked Juba to help Khartoum's government to overcome its huge debt, pointing out that the proposal has been put before South Sudanese president, Salva Kiir Mayardit, for more study South Sudan's Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister, Dr. Barnaba Benjamin, told Sudan Tribune newspaper that Mbeki delivered a proposal requesting South Sudan's assistance to resolve the problem of the huge debts faced by Sudan, revealing that the proposal has been submitted o Salva Kiir since September, 12, for examination and decision thereon, stressing that the debt relief committee is part of the cooperation agreement between the two countries. Benjamin said that the Committee needed to pressure to cancel Sudan's debt, noting that he held a meeting with the Sudanese Ambassador in Juba over the issue, but did not say whether his country had agreed to assist the Sudan in its campaign for debt relief. South Sudan diplomat renewed his country's commitment to implement the cooperation agreement with Sudan, pointing out that Kiir's visit to Khartoum last week was successful, saying that the two presidents reaffirmed their commitment to resolve all outstanding issues
