Khartoum and Juba have a historic opportunity to achieve shared benefits: South Sudan's oil Minister says
Khartoum-South Sudan's oil Minister, Stephen Dhieu Dau, said that Khartoum and Juba have a historic opportunity to create a strategic relationship to achieve the common economic benefits for the two countries In a press statements on Tuesday after the conclusion of the ministerial meetings between Khartoum and Juba, Dau revealed that he discussed with his Sudanese counterpart, Dr. Awad Al-jazz, all issues relating to the implementation of the oil agreement between the two countries, pointing out that implementing of the agreement oil is going well, indicating that there are obligations from the Presidents of the two countries that there is no going back to war . He stated that Al-Bashir and Kiir have vowed to resolve the outstanding problems by peaceful means and without an intermediary to achieve the integration "We started producing oil, we didn't get to production standard because the stop of oil exporting” he added South Sudan's oil Minister said that before closing the pipeline, South Sudan was producing 350,000 barrels daily and today produces about 190,000 barrels only from the fields in Upper Nile State and Unity State. He said that the visit of the President of South Sudan to Khartoum and the commitment of the two parties to the implementation of the cooperation conventions would lead to increased production and will rise to its previous level within a short period of time
