Khartoum-Sudan's Minister of Minerals, Kamal Abdulatif, revealed on Thursday the traditional mining contributed towards reduction of poverty and unemployment and helped in distributing wealth among populations.
In his speech before a workshop on contribution of mineral sector in domestic product organized by the Ministry yesterday, the minister said the upcoming challenge for the Ministry would be to increase production, and urged the state to focus on productive sectors by providing them with necessary funding to contribute towards efforts to boost the economy, underscoring the importance of the conduct of economic statistics and studies to ensure good future planning particularly with regard to funding.

Sudan’s production was expected to rise from 115,000 barrels per day to 150,000 bpd, state news agency SUNA quoted Mahmud as saying earlier on Monday. Sudan had planned to boost output to 180,000 bpd this year but failed to reach the target.
Gold exports reached between 47 and 48 tons by November and were expected to rise above 50 tons annually, bringing in more than $2 billion a year, the finance minister added
