Is Sudan heading to be the new Algeria???

Last week two disturbing incidents occurs in Darfour which were carried out with a great deal of barbarism, Are we heading to a new Algeria, where villagers will be slaughters on regular basis.????

KHARTOUM, April 30 (AFP) -- Nineteen people, including women and children, were killed, many others wounded and huts burned in separate attacks by gunmen in western Sudan, press reports said Tuesday.

A member of parliament for North Darfur State, Mohamed Berekah Mohamed, said an unspecified number of unidentified gunmen on Monday launched an attack on Shoba village, south of Kebkabiyah town, according to Al Rai Al Aam daily.

Seventeen people were killed in the attack and 22 others injured, some seriously, he was quoted as saying.

A total of 597 huts were burnt and 583 head of livestock were killed in the attack by the gunmen who were driving three four-wheel vehicles and riding on camels, the MP said.

Mohamed said another group of gunmen on Sunday attacked a government vehicle and ran away with 13 million Sudanese pounds (about 5,000 dollars) after killing the cashier in West Darfur State.

He added that a third group Monday attacked Nankosi village near Zalinje town in West Darfur State and killed one villager.

No motive was given for the attacks on Shoba and Nankosi villages.

The MP said deputies from Darfur region contacted government authorities and urged them to take immediate measures for checking recently increasing armed attacks on villages in the region.

Gunmen, apparently regional tribesmen, last week killed 26 villagers and torched three villages during a rampage in Debbah Taira, Um-Haraz al-Umdah and Um-Haraz al-Madrasah villages, all in West Darfur State, officials said.

The motive was not immediately clear.

Western Sudan is frequently the scene of tribal clashes and armed banditry.
