About Dr. Isam Siddig - Sudan

Security forces of Sudan arrested 18 august 2004 the Sudanese Peace Forum (SPF) chairman Dr. Isam Siddig from 9:00 am to 10:15 pm, orderd to report daily from 8:00 to unspecified time or date, he was not questioned, while in custody or told the reason why he had been arrested.

Dr. Isam Siddig is a prominent peace-activist, economist and an honourable distinguished businessman. He used to be a lecturer in the University of Khartoum and worked also as state-minister for irrigation and as a presidential adviser for economy affairs for the current regime of Omar El Bashir.
Dr. Isam Siddig is also famous for his innovative ideas (manufacturing of Gum Arabic, Infrstructural project, ..etc.). He is a modern and moderate islamist who believes in true democracy, peace, diversity, sustainable development and equality of religions.

Dr. Isam Siddig is married with childeren.

We appeal for the immediate, un-conditioned release of Dr. Isam Siddig and the stopping of all arbitraire arrests of all other democracy and peace activist in Sudan.
